A rule of thumb is that a puppy can hold its bladder for as many hours as they are months old, plus one. So for a three-month-old pup, that’s four hours. You should also give them a bathroom run after they eat or drink, wake up from a nap, or finish play time all these are times when they’re likely to go. Punishment is not a good method to correct bad behavior. By preventing problems through confinement or supervision, providing for all of the puppy’s needs, and setting up the environment for success, punishment should never be required.
